Lewandowski equals Aubameyang´s Bundesliga record

Robert Lewandowski scored for the eighth Bundesliga match running, equalling a record set by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lewandowski headed home his 12th league goal of the campaign to draw Bayern level against Augsburg on Saturday after Niko Kovac s side fell behind inside 30 seconds.

The Poland international has now netted in the opening eight Bundesliga games of the season, matching Aubameyang s impressive effort at Borussia Dortmund in 2015-16.

No Bundesliga player has scored in the first nine matches of a campaign, meaning Lewandowski will have the opportunity to make history should he feature against Union Berlin next Saturday.

Every. Single. Matchday brings level in Augsburg.

Torres follows Iniesta to Japan

Fernando Torres will join former Spain team-mate Andres Iniesta in the J.League next season after agreeing a deal with Sagan Tosu.

The World Cup winner had been linked with moves to the A-League and MLS but – like Iniesta at Vissel Kobe – the next stage of his career will be in Japan.

During an illustrious career in Europe, Torres entertained fans in Spain, England and Italy, enjoying most success with Atletico Madrid.

After coming through the ranks at Atleti, Torres scored 65 Premier League goals for Liverpool before making a £50million move to Chelsea in January 2011.

Despite winning the Champions League and Europa League with the Blues he struggled to recreate his Liverpool form at Stamford Bridge and was sent to AC Milan on loan ahead of the 2014…

Tottenham 2-1 Southampton: Spurs prevail despite Lloris clanger and Aurier red card

Harry Kane got the winning goal as Tottenham eased the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino with a 2-1 win over Southampton, despite an awful Hugo Lloris error and Serge Aurier s first-half dismissal.

Spurs underwhelming start to the season took a turn for the worse with Tuesday s EFL Cup elimination by League Two s Colchester United, exacerbating the aura of frustration at the club.

But they showed admirable character to see off Saints in tricky circumstances.

Tanguy Ndombele s opener was soon forgotten when Serge Aurier s sending off for two bookings was followed by a diabolical Lloris mistake that gifted Danny Ings an equaliser.

But Kane converted after a devastating break at the end of the first half and 10-man Spurs managed to hold on in the face of inten…

Sergio Aguero looks set to continue tormenting Premier League defences until 2021 after signing a new Manchester City deal on Friday.

The Argentina international has enjoyed a stellar career at the club since joining from Atletico Madrid for a reported £40million in 2011.

Not only is he City s all-time leading scorer with 204 goals – 27 more than anyone else – but he wrote himself into club folklore when grabbing the dramatic late winner against Queens Park Rangers in May 2012 that secured their first Premier League title.

Despite fitness and injury problems during his time in England, Aguero has made 299 appearances for City, providing a consistent threat in attack throughout his time at the Etihad Stadium.

His record speaks for itself, as the num…

The 42-year-old has previously coached at Chelsea and Liverpool s academies, as well as working in Brazil with Sao Paolo, before taking on first-team coaching roles under Gerrard at both Rangers and Aston Villa.

´Scary´ PSG must challenge in Champions League – Henry

France legend Thierry Henry says Paris Saint-Germain s scary front three must power a Champions League title tilt in order to be deemed a success.

New boy Kylian Mbappe became the latest big-money PSG star to score on debut as he joined Neymar and Edinson Cavani in finding the target in a 5-1 rout of Metz on Friday.

Unai Emery s side are the only team to boast a perfect record after five Ligue 1 matches as they seek to reclaim their crown from Monaco.

But Henry insists the value of the club s incredible off-season spending, which included a world-record €222million fee for Neymar, will be judged solely by their performances in Europe.

Neymar and Mbappe joining PSG is great for the French league. It will raise the profile massively, Henry wrote in T…

Ancelotti: Benzema will ´show all his quality´ in remainder of Real Madrid´s season

Karim Benzema will show all his quality in the remainder of Real Madrid s season following his World Cup snub with France, according to head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Benzema won the Ballon d Or in October after his 44 goals in 46 games during the 2021-22 campaign helped Madrid to win both LaLiga and the Champions League.

However, he has been plagued by injury problems this season and missed the World Cup with France after being ruled out with a thigh issue on the eve of the tournament.

The 35-year-old has since retired from international duty, after France head coach Didier Deschamps decided not to bring him back to Qatar as Les Bleus went deep into the tournament, ultimately losing the final to Argentina on penalties.

With Madrid s competitive season getti…
