International Friendly Preview: South Africa v Zimbabwe

South Africa and Zimbabwe will aim to put FIFA World Cup disappointment behind them with victory in their international friendly on Tuesday.

Gordon Igesund s South Africa came close to making it through to the third round of African qualifying but fell two points short of Group A winners Ethiopia.

They welcome neighbours Zimbabwe to Johannesburg for the sixth meeting between the countries having won four of the previous five.

Zimbabwe endured a nightmare qualifying campaign, failing to win as they finished bottom of Group G with just two points from their six fixtures.

However, Klaus Dieter-Pagels men did win the last time they faced Igesund s side in November 2011, with Knowledge Musona scoring twice in a 2-1 friendly victory in Harare.

South Africa come into the game on the back of four wins in their last six matches, and will be looking to striker Bernard Parker to fire them to victory.

The 27-year-old scored twice in their 4-1 win over Botswana on Friday and has five goals in his last seven international appearances.

One player who will not be available for selection is midfielder Thulani Serero after the 23-year-old withdrew from the squad and returned to Ajax.
