Nunez misses Uruguay win as Liverpool move reportedly nears

Darwin Nunez is reportedly on the brink of joining Liverpool and was left out of Uruguay s 5-0 friendly win over Panama on Saturday.

The striker s absence from the match in Montevideo was confirmed following the announcement of the teams.

A short message on Uruguay s Twitter page simply listed Nunez among four players who would play no part in the game, with no reason given.

That development came as speculation mounted around a mooted move to Liverpool, with Benfica reportedly set to receive an initial fee in the region of £68.3million (€80m).

The Reds have seemingly won the race for one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.

Nunez scored 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica in 2021-22 – including six in 10 in the Champions League, …

Ousmane Dembele available for €60m

Barcelona are prepared to part ways with Ousmane Dembele for as little as €60 million, according to Marca.

The French winger was brought in from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for over €100 million in order to try and fill the void left by Neymar s departure to PSG, but he fell thoroughly short of the task. He could, perhaps, be excused to an extent given the way frequent injuries have impeded his progress at the Camp Nou, but there s no hiding from the fact that the talented 22-year-old hasn t lived up to expectations.

Barcelona are now in a situation where they need to sign more firepower upfront to provide cover for the ageing feet of Luis Suarez, as well as keep an eye out for a potential successor to six-time Ballon d Or winner Lionel Messi. They need significant fu…

Sevilla boss Lopetegui lauds Conte´s ´stamp´ after Spurs draw

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui was full of praise for Antonio Conte and his ability to seamlessly implement his style upon teams, following his side s 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Saturday.

Lopetegui won the only competitive match between the two coaches Sevilla s 3-2 triumph over Inter in the 2020 Europa League final but they had to share the result this time, with Ivan Rakitic equalising after Harry Kane s opener in Suwon.

Sevilla had the majority of possession over the opening 45 minutes but their best chance came in transition, with Rafa Mir botching a one-on-one opportunity with Hugo Lloris.

To reinforce their lack of penetration with the ball, Kane scored after Rodrigo Bentancur won the ball high up the pitch in 50th minute, before substitute Rakitic rifle…
